Pool Panels
Pool panels are used primarily in the warmer climates to help keep the pool water warmer during the winter months. These are pools that are normally outside. These panels use the heat energy from the sun to raise the temperature of the water. This is done through water circulating through them to your pool via a water pump. If you do not currently have one and decide to include this to Your Solar Savings Project be sure to include the electrical power requirements for the pump (the requirements are measured in watts). Here are some pictures so you get the idea.

Water Heating Panels
Although pool panels heat water for your pool, water heating panels are for use inside your home and is a different and separate system altogether. The purpose of a water heating panel is to preheat water which then goes to your water heating appliance. Your water heating appliance then heats up your water to the temperature you want to use inside your home.
The difference in temperature from your panels to the temperature your appliance is set to deliver to your water outlets, can in some cases be zero under ideal conditions. In most cases the electrical energy costs are reduced substantially and is a great way to save on energy costs.
Solar electric panels are the most expensive part of your solar savings project and water heating panels are currently less expensive than electric panels.
Keep this in mind so you can minimize your costs on your solar savings project. The average home spends 30% of their electric bill to heat water inside their home. Here are some pictures so you get a better idea.

Electric Panels or Photo Voltaic PV
Electric Panels will be the key to your Solar Savings Project. Why? Because regardless of whether or not you heat water for your pool or home with solar panels, you will need electicty for most of your needs. If you live in a cooler or cold climate you may not have a pool and your choice to heat your water and the space inside your home is done with electricty provided by your PV panels (Photo Voltaic - Light Energy from the Sun).
Solar electric panel technology has continued to improve reducing costs and improving efficiency. With the solar energy industry increasing by 60% over the past years the demand for solar electric continues to increase. We have reached that point in time where it makes "financial sense to install solar NOW.
Can You Beat These Prices?
Investing In A Solar System
So should you invest in solar electric panels now or should you wait? This is a good question. Right now the pricing for a solar electric system makes sense in most cases. The questions you should ask yourself are should I finance?, lease? or pay cash? One of these methods will make sense to most individuals.
If for an example you have enough money in your savings account to purchase your system and you are in an area where the average utilty bills increase by 10% each year purchasing may be the way to go.
If there are local (state, county or city) rebates and incentives available, then you should act fast before these become unavailable. You should check with your tax consultant who may know of additional benefits and can advise you on how to take advantage of them.
Leasing?
Leasing has its unique advantages which you will see from the various options and as new lease benefits reach the market. Be sure to get a lease that is transferrable to the new owners (most leases have this option). Wether this makes sense or not will depend on your specific needs. Check with a consultant to find the best way to take advantage of this method of getting your Solar Panels installed so you can with certainty realize YOUR SOLAR SAVINGS ON YOUR PROJECT.
The best deal with one of these would be 2 months lease in advance at a rate that is 10% - 25% below your average monthly electric bill. This would include the installation and maintenance of your solar panels system for the 20 plus years of the lease.
